Write a Will Month: Protect your future and support Age Concern Luton
During April, our firm is offering professional Will-writing services in exchange for a charitable donation to Age Concern Luton, rather than the usual legal fees. This initiative provides an opportunity for individuals to put their affairs in order while also giving back to the community. With only a limited number of appointments available on a first-come, first-served basis, early booking is strongly recommended.
Write a Will Month allows individuals to have a standard Will drafted in return for a suggested donation of £275 for mirror Wills and £175 for a single Will, payable directly to Age Concern Luton. This applies to straightforward Wills only; more complex work is outside the scope of Write a Will Month, and any additional costs for such services will be agreed with clients accordingly. Appointments are limited, so those interested are encouraged to book as soon as possible by emailing [email protected]
Why is Having a Will Important?
A Will provides clarity and security for your loved ones, ensuring that your assets are distributed according to your wishes. Without a Will, your estate will be divided under intestacy laws, which may not reflect your personal intentions. This could mean that those you care about the most—such as an unmarried partner, stepchildren, or close friends—might not receive anything from your estate. Having a Will ensures that the people and causes most important to you are looked after in the way you want.
Making a Will also reduces the risk of family disputes. Without clear instructions, disagreements can arise, creating unnecessary stress and division among loved ones at an already difficult time. By setting out your wishes in a legally binding document, you provide certainty and peace of mind for those you leave behind.
A properly drafted Will can also help minimise inheritance tax liabilities. By structuring your estate in a tax-efficient way, you can ensure that more of your assets go to your chosen beneficiaries rather than being lost to taxation. This is particularly important for homeowners, business owners, and individuals with significant savings or investments.
