Our History

Machins Solicitors has carried on business under the name of “Machins” since 1920 and we can trace our roots back to a law firm that had opened for business in the late 1800s. In 2020 we celebrated our centenary year.

We have offices in Luton and Berkhamsted and employ nearly one hundred staff including solicitors and paralegals.
Our Berkhamsted office (formerly Sumner and Tabor) merged with Machins in 2012 allowing the local team to provide a broader range of legal services to their existing client base.

Whilst having our roots firmly established in Luton’s industrial past and Berkhamsted’s local community our reach and reputation now extends much further across the entire Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire region and beyond serving business and individual clients regionally, nationally and internationally.
