Key responsibilities

As a member of the fee earning team responsibilities will include:

  • Development of a client portfolio by utilising good marketing skills, social media and networking opportunities, including internal cross referrals
  • Dealing with a broad range of client work in respect of landlord and tenant arrangements including, commercial property sales, purchases, leases, lease extension, providing advice in writing, over the phone or during meetings, maintaining accurate records and meeting notes, and collaborating with colleagues in cross-function matters.
  • Ensuring all appropriate searches are undertaken and submissions to The Land Registry
  • Dealing with new enquiries and building on established contacts
  • Adherence to compliance policies and procedures
  • Management of client expectations
  • Management of risk
  • Case and file management
  • Supporting in the development of other team members
  • Participation in CPD
  • Support in marketing initiatives including participation in the delivery of webinars and podcasts
  • Representing the firm at local networking events
  • Support in the wider Firm business development initiatives
  • Participation in charity events

We are looking for someone with:

  • Ideally at least 4 years PQE experience of working in a Commercial Property team, although consideration will be given to individuals with less PQE but substantial experience as a paralegal working in Commercial Property and a desire to learn about development work and plot sales.
  • Experience of:
    • Business tenancy arrangements and renewals
    • Commercial landlord/tenant work
    • Party Wall Act negotiations
    • Purchase of commercial properties for conversion to residential dwellings
    • Land acquisition for commercial property developments
    • Rezoning
  • Personal pride in the quality of their work which should be to a high standard
  • Knowledge of the requirements of Lexcel
  • Strong communication skills both in writing and orally with a wide range of people
  • IT literate (including the use of case management systems, MS Word, Outlook and Excel)
  • Self-motivated and able to perform to targets
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues at all levels
  • Efficiency, reliability and flexibility
  • Excellent file management skills with good time management skills
